(18 October 2025, HONG KONG, CHINA) Organized by the Hong Chi Association, co-organized by Sun Hung Kai Properties and Sino Group, and venue sponsored by Central Plaza, the Hong Chi Climbathon 2025 was successfully held on Saturday, October 18 at Central Plaza in Wan Chai. The event drew more than 500 enthusiastic runners and was graced by the presence of Ms. Rosanna Law, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, who officiated the ceremony, adding to the vibrant and charitable atmosphere.

Before the race began, a kickoff ceremony was held with distinguished guests including Ms. Rosanna Law, Mr. Joe Chow, PMSM, Commissioner of Police; Professor Alexander Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor Hong Kong Baptist University; Ms. Vivian Sum, JP, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Edward Yau, GBS, JP, Chairman of Hong Chi Association; Ms. Zuie Lin, General Secretary of Hong Chi Association; Ms. Linda Choy, Chairman of the Partnership and Business Development Committee; Mr. Chris Liu, Director of Corporate Communications, Sun Hung Kai Properties; and Ms. Nikki Ng, BBS, Director of Philanthropy of Sino Group.

This year’s event started with the Hong Chi Charity Celebrity Run, with Mr. Joe Chow leading by example alongside nine teams of star runners from the business, academic, and entertainment sectors. The star-studded lineup included personalities such as Professor Alexander Wai; Mr. Steven Lam, Co-founder and CEO of GoGoX; Ms. Juliana LAM, founder of INNOTIER and Member of the Preparatory and Steering Committee for the Academy of Sports and Arts; Mr. Brian Chow, Veteran Media Professional; Mr. Jones Chong, Founder and Chairman of CHESSMAN; Mr. Eddie Tam, CAI Founder; Mr. Lawrence Cheng, Artist; Ms. Hedy Chan, Singer; Mr. Bob Lam, Artist; Mr. Jackie Li, Singer; Mr. Sam Lau, Singer; Mr. Ivan Lo, Singer; Mr. Kimman Wong, Singer; Ms. Sarika Choy, Artist; Mr. Wilfred Lau, Singer; Mr. King Wu, Singer; Mr. Phil Lam, Singer; Mr. Alan Po, Singer; Ms. Lisa Cheng (Spider Lisa), Athlete; Ms. Lora Chow, Composer and Coloratura Soprano; and Ms. Alis Lin, Cantonese Opera Actress and one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2025.

These runners embodied positive energy and demonstrated widespread community support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

In his speech, Mr. Edward Yau expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all supporting organizations, sponsors, and participants for their strong support. He affirmed that the Association will continue to nurture the physical and artistic talents of people with intellectual disabilities. He shared that foreign tourists had inquired about purchasing artworks created by Hong Chi students, which had been displayed on Hong Kong International Airport screens and at Art Basel. This, he noted, is a testament to the cultural, artistic, and recreational abilities of people with intellectual disabilities—abilities that sometimes even surpass those of the general public.

Guest of honor Ms. Rosanna Law expressed hope that more works by local artists and Hong Chi students and trainees would be showcased at the airport to highlight their talents globally. She praised the Association’s efforts, including nurturing this year’s Integration Ambassador, Paralympic silver medalist Chan Yui-lam, and encouraged continued support to help students pursue their dreams.

This year’s event featured over 40 integration teams, pairing corporate representatives with Hong Chi students or trainees to promote integration through sport. The highlight of the day—the 75-floor Individual Race—was officially recognized by the Towerrunning World Association, making it the only international race in Hong Kong with 60 ranking points, attracting elite runners. New additions included the 7-floor Individual Race and the ever-popular Family Run, catering to runners of all levels and embodying the spirit of “Running for Good.”

Beyond the races, the venue featured stage performances and charity booths hosted by Hong Chi service units and schools, offering handmade food and crafts created by students and trainees —allowing the public to experience their creativity and dedication firsthand.

The Hong Chi Climbathon is more than a sporting event—it’s a platform for individuals with intellectual disabilities to shine. Through this initiative, Hong Chi Association hopes to unite the community and walk alongside them in “Uniting Dreams Together,” striving toward a truly inclusive society.
